Properties

Lipids or fats produce heat and energy and are stored by the body in the form of fat: they are essential for birds which defend themselves against the cold and this is the reason why, in winter, birds are so fond of bacon or suet.

Most bird seeds are oilseeds (popsicle, turnip, sunflower, hemp, niger, etc.) and contain 30 to 40% oils.

Also, for birds protected from the cold, there can be a particularly harmful excess of fat, leading to fatty overload of the liver: it becomes large, discolored, yellowish or yellowish-white, covering all the abdominal organs.

Its increase in volume hinders breathing which becomes difficult (but silent unlike classic respiratory diseases where breathing is noisy) and marked by tail wagging.

The affected bird gradually loses weight although it is often at the feeder where it largely wastes the seeds without really eating, prostration is more and more frequent and the bird dies in 3 to 4 weeks.

This hepatitis is often complicated by enteritis with red belly and diarrhea.

Indications

FLORACHOLINE, hepatoprotector, promotes the elimination of fats from the liver and increases the digestibility of lipids by facilitating the production of bile salts.

Instructions for use and dose

10 drops in 60 ml of drinking water (1 teaspoon per 500 ml of water), 2 days a week, for prevention.

Same dosage, every day, in case of fatty liver overload, until complete recovery.

For parakeets

10 drops in a teaspoon of water to be absorbed by 30 g of seeds (2 teaspoons in 75 ml of water to be absorbed by 500 g of seeds, according to the frequency previously indicated.
